The Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship was established in 2006 with the aim of promoting the development of international student education in Shanghai and encouraging more outstanding international students and scholars to ECNU. The Shanghai Government Scholarship is for outstanding international students applying to an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. program at East China Normal University.
Shanghai Government Scholarship 2023 | Fully Funded
Applicants for the undergraduate program with a level of HSK-3 or above but without qualifications to study Chinese with a full scholarship for a one-year pre-college program (application deadline May 10) can. If the applicant cannot obtain a qualified HSK level after the pre-college program, the applicant will graduate as a language student.

Shanghai Government Scholarship 2023
The scholarships program for students to pursue studies in China is supported by Shanghai Government. Shanghai Government is open to students at the undergraduate Master, Ph.D., and Doctoral levels. The program of scholarship offers two types of scholarships. Type A (full scholarship) and Type B (partial scholarship) attract foreign students interested in studying in Shanghai. Shanghai is the largest city in China and is a major financial center in the world.

Shanghai Government Scholarship Eligibility
1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
2) Educational background and age limit:
- Applicants for the pre-college program must have a high school diploma and be under 23 years of age.
- Applicants for a bachelor’s degree program must have a high school diploma and be under 25 years of age.
- Applicants for master’s degree programs must have a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years of age.
- Applicants for doctoral degree programs must have a master’s degree and be under 40.
3) Students who have won a Chinese government scholarship or any scholarship offered by other organizations are not eligible to apply for SGS.

How to Apply for Shanghai Government Scholarship?
- Follow the step-by-step instructions for applying to be eligible for Shanghai Government Scholarships:
- Applicants should register and apply online at http://study.edu.sh.gov.cn/en/ise.html. Fill out the online application and download the application form.
- Candidates must sign up and apply online on the university’s website (A list of universities is provided above). Complete the online application and pay the application fee (if required).
- After submitting the online application Download and print an application template. Send two hard copies of the application documentation (1 Set of the original documents, and one pair of photocopies) to the institution to which you’ve applied.
