The Premier Minister’s Youth Program, Higher Education Commission released the most recent announcement on July 24, 2022, regarding HEC the announcement of Talent Hunt Youth Sports League 2022 registrations are now open for those who want to join the who want to participate in the trail. Both male and female players are eligible to participate in the HEC sports league. This HEC Sports League’s registration has opened for players in Federal, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Gilgit Baltistan and AJK. The deadline for registration for the Youth Sports League for Phase-II trials was extended until the 30th of September in 2022.

This year, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited athletes of talent from all over the nation in the country to participate in this Youth Sports League under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP). The league is expected to offer the chosen athletes the possibility of participating in national-level competitions in their category.

Javed Ali Memon, In-charge of the Sports and Co-Curricular Division of the HEC explained that “The opportunities include the providing of a development and coaching facility under the supervision of the Pakistan Sports Board and award of scholarships to students who want to pursue further education”.

The selected players will receive expert aid in the form athletic academy (High-Performance Center and Resource Centre) to help them refine their skills and to improve their physical performance to the standards of professional athletes. The goal was long-term as per the planned method of the Talent Hunt program, to establish HEC’s team as well as a pool of talented and young athletes and help them develop into professional athletes who will play and represent the country at the top levels.

An HEC official revealed that several universities across the nation have embraced the program with enthusiasm. He expressed his displeasure at the lack of action by previous governments about extracurricular activities offered to students. He cited the latest UNDP survey report that noted that, of 7,000 teens surveyed on accessibility to recreation facilities and activities,  The initiative will also assist in the generation of revenue and also strengthen tourism and sports.

78.6 per cent said they did not have access to places of recreation, 94.5 per cent had access only to libraries and 97.2 per cent hadn’t been to a live performance event. Similar to that, 93.9 per cent of the participants had never attended any sporting event and 93 per cent didn’t enjoy access to sporting equipment, while 97 per cent have never been to a movie or a movie, and 71.7 per cent stated that they were unable to access or access to all of these events.

The youth league of the national level will offer opportunities for young people to be involved in physical activities, not just as participants, but also as professional athletes as well as coaches, leaders, and volunteers. It will also offer modern-day expertise such as coaching camps, training, camping and targeted fitness for the youngsters. The talent hunt and sports league will offer equal opportunities for both males as well as women to enhance their performance.
