Berea College applicants must have strong academic skills and financial needs. Students at Berea College score between 20-30 on the ACT or SAT equivalent. They also need a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA in a strong college preparatory curriculum. Either the ACT or the SAT can be taken by students.

Other factors such as community service, leadership qualities, and motivation levels will also be taken into consideration. The college strongly recommends the following high school curriculum:

• 4 units of English (including composition, rhetoric, and literature)
